The Director General of the AOAD met the Arab Delegations

 at the 3rd Session of the United Nations Environment Assembly


The Director General of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development H.E Prof Ibrahim Adam El Dukhiri participated in the first meeting of the Arab group at the 3rd Session of the United Nations Environment Assembly on Monday, December 4, 2017. The meeting was attended by the Arab Ministers of Environment from Jordan, Egypt, Algeria, Sudan and Morocco. Among the participants were the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in Saudi Arabia, Ambassadors of Bahrain, Iraq and the UAE, as well as the Ambassador of the League of Arab States in Kenya.

H.E the Jordanian Minister, Chairman of the Arab Group, welcomed the participation of H.E Prof El Dukhiri in this meeting. H.E Prof El Dukhiri stressed the importance that the organization currently gives to environmental issues and its keenness to support the efforts of its member countries in this field.

Afterwards the content of the declaration to be made by the conference was discussed. It was agreed that the statement, does not contain points that was already gained by the Group of 77 and China. It included also the Arab countries in the environmental negotiations during the last period. In particular the principle of "Common and differentiated responsibility ". The AOAD was selected as in charge of contacting the group of the African countries
