Training Course in the field of

"Risk Management of Transboundary Animal Diseases"


The Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) organized a training course in the field of Risk Management of Transboundary Animal Diseases, from the 11th to the 15th of November 2108 in Cairo, Egypt. The participants were 20 vets of epidemiology and veterinary quarantines from the Veterinary Services General Authority from several governorates.

The course aimed to build and strengthen the capacity of epidemiologists and veterinary quarantines at the Veterinary Services General Authority, to identify the risks of transboundary diseases and to analyze their risks to livestock. It also aimed to identify how to manage the risks of these diseases through measures taken and contingency plans, borders to prevent their entry and deployment.

The training program included several lectures on the basic concepts of risk analysis and assessment and how to identify it, identification of plans and methodology for qualitative and quantitative risk assessment and management, introduction to the programs used in the quantitative analysis of risks and their practical uses, identification of procedures and contingency plans for diseases and how to simulate these plans, methods and policies for response and disease control, identification of quarantine policies and requirements and health controls for importation.
