H.E Prof El Dukhiri the Director General of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development concluded his visit to Mauritania with a field trip to Mauritania agricultural fields in the Senegal River region. His Excellency accompanied the Mauritanian Minister of Agriculture. They headed to the city of Rousseau, the capital of Atrazza State. At the entrance to the city, the delegation was received by the governor of the state surrounded by the heads of regional interests. The delegation was greete by a guard of honour from the armed forces.
The delegation visited a farm that belongs to the Ministry of Agriculture. Its total area is 4000 hectares. The farm was established in the 70s by China. Currently it is being used to integrate unemployed graduates into active life by giving them agricultural land and supporting the graduates withy services. Also the Foundation implements efforts for the benefit of poor farmers' cooperatives. In 2012 the farm was rehabilitated by a donation of five million dollars provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Mauritania through the AOAD. H.E Prof El Dukhiri toured the planted areas and gave his suggestions for higher productivity and sustainability of resources.
H.E Prof El Dukhiri accompanied the Minister of Agriculture on a visit to the areas of agricultural models belonging to private investors in the region.
At the end of the tour, the Mauritanian TV interviewed H.E Prof El Dukhiri on his impressions during his visit to Mauritania. In response, H.E Prof El Dukhiri reiterated his gratitude to the Government and people of Mauritania for their warm hospitality. He renewed the AOAD's readiness to support the agricultural development programs in Mauritania. Adding that the minister is currently considering the preparation of a joint project, in which the activities to be implemented by the two sides during the coming period.
