H.E Prof. Ibrahim Adam El Dukhiri, the Director General of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD), had a working visit to Morocco from the 16th to the 18th of November 2017. During his visit he developed contacts with some research organizations and the Moroccan Federation of Fish Exporters and some regional organizations in Morocco. H.E Prof El Dukhiri held a meeting with the staff of the National Center for Agricultural Research (NARC). The meeting tackled the possibility of using some of the Center's experts to study the development of the date sector in the Arab countries. The initiative will be accomplished by the AOAD in the coming weeks, in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, in Rabat.
H.E Prof. El Dukhiri visited the headquarters of the Arab Maghreb Union, where he was received by the Director of the Food Security Department on behalf of the Secretary-General. The two sides held a working session attended by a number of the Union officials, and the Director General of Cooperation at the Ministry of Agriculture. During the meeting a briefing on the activities of both sides was presented. The two sides decided to conclude a framework agreement for cooperation between the two countries. A draft was handed to H.E Prof. El Dukhiri. H.E the Director General of Cooperation at the Ministry of Agriculture expressed her thanks to H.E Prof. El Dukhiri for this visit. Moreover she indicated that the Ministry is ready to activate its cooperation with the AOAD and to serve the common interest of the two sides.
Afterwards, H.E Prof. El Dukhiri and his delegation went to the headquarters of the General Organization of the Arab Organization for Industry and Mining. He was received by the Director General. The two held a face to face meeting before being joined by their assistants. The meeting discussed the opportunities for cooperation between the two organizations. It was agreed to organize joint activities in the field of encouraging food industries during 2017 and 2018. Also it was agreed to continue working on the food safety project. The last visit of H.E Prof. El Dukhiri in Morocco was to the headquarters of the Union of Private Exporters in Morocco. He held a working session with a team of representatives from the Union accompanied by the Consulate of Sudan in Morocco. Discussions focused on facilitating cooperation between the private sectors of Sudan and Morocco in particular to stimulate the export and import of some Sudanese products to Morocco, such as; meat, leather, and cotton as well as the Sudan's import of Moroccan fishery products. The Union agreed to finance a training course in the field of fish farming for the benefit of representatives from the Arab countries. The training course will introduce the experience of the AOAD in freshwater fish farming and the experience of Morocco in aquaculture in salt water.
