Training Course in the field of Modern Irrigation Methods and the Usage of Treated Water in Irrigating Plants


The Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) organized a training course in the field of Modern Irrigation Methods and the Usage of Treated Water in Irrigating Plants, on the 12-14 September 2018, in Beirut, Lebanon. The participants were 28 agricultural engineers in the Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture.

The course aimed to train the engineers on pressure irrigation systems and the components of each system, how to evaluate the hydraulic design of the irrigation systems under different conditions, evaluate the safe methods of using treated water in agricultural production to reduce the burden on fresh water for irrigating various non-restricted agricultural crops, energy plants, and optimal management of agricultural systems using this type of water and environmental impact assessment for their long-term use.

The training program included an introduction of modern irrigation methods and systems, planning of irrigation systems and their components, management of irrigation systems, crops water requirements, the advantages and disadvantages of using treated wastewater in plant irrigation and wastewater analysis methods and methods of analyzing the impact of treated water use on soil and plantations.
