H.E Prof. Ibrahim El Dukhiri the DG of the (AOAD), was honored by H.E Mr. Sameer El Tayeb, Minister of Agriculture, Hydraulic Resources and Fisheries of Tunisia, for his contribution to the sustainable agricultural development and food security in the Arab countries.

This was during the visit of H.E Prof. El Dukhiri to Tunisia participating in the activities of the International Show of Agriculture, Machinery and Fisheries "SIAMAP", at its 13th session under the slogan "For Modern Agriculture, Exported and Sustainable". The show was organized by the Tunisian Union for Agriculture and Fisheries from the 31st of October to the 5th of November 2017.

H.E Mr. Sameer congratulated the AOAD on inaugurating its new Regional Office in the Maghreb region and expressed his readiness to provide the necessary assistance and support to activate the work of the Office.

During the opening session of the exhibition, H.E Mr. Youssef Chahed, Prime Minister of Tunisia, met with the Arab agricultural ministers and the directors of regional, international and Arab organizations participating in the celebration. He stressed the importance of agriculture and fisheries in Tunisia. He also pointed out the great efforts made to achieve food security in many vital sectors. He added, that more efforts should be executed to achieve Arab food security and the Arab agricultural integration.

It is worth mentioning that the Tunisian Union for Agriculture and Fisheries organizes every two years the International Show of Agriculture, Machinery and Fisheries "SIAMAP", which is considered as an international opportunity for agricultural and fisheries professionals to exchange technology.
