H. E Dr. Tariq Moosa Al-Zadjali, the Director
General of the Arab Organization for Agriculture Development
(AOAD) has made an official visit to Iraq from 8-10/11/2009,
at the head of a high-level delegation comprising: Dr.
Al-hag Ateyah , Director of Training and International
cooperation department, Dr. Zakareyah Riyad Al-Qanwati ,
in-charge of the Arab Centre for Animal Health and eg.
Khalid Hassan Bakri , of the D. G office.
During the visit H. E the D. G discussed
with H. E Dr. Akram Al-Hakim – the Iraq Minister for
agriculture and Their Excellencies the undersecretaries to
the ministry the existing situation of Iraqi agriculture and
food security and the government policies and plans for the
salvation and restoration of the Iraqi agriculture as well
as the areas where AOAD technical assistance is needed.
The D. G discussed with the Iraqi officials a
package ideas and plans for the improvement of species,
development of animal and fisheries wealth as well as
investment in agriculture. He emphasized the importance of
orientation to the experiences of other brotherly countries
in the fields of agriculture as well as making available
the Iraqi agricultural expertise to the other Arab
countries.
The two parties have signed an agricultural
protocol to facilitate the development of the Iraqi
Agriculture. The protocol provide for the training of Iraqi
personnel, promotion of research, extension, animal wealth,
water use, horticulture and veterinary services. It further
provided for accreditation of AOAD as a consultative house
of experts for the implementation of the Iraqi Ministry of
agriculture's projects, studies and capacity building
programmes funded through the Arab, or other, funding
agencies.
H.E the D.G also paid a visit to the wing of
the Ministry of Agriculture at Baghdad international show.
