The Director General of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD), H.E Prof. Ibrahim Adam El Dukheri, inaugurated the 2nd Meeting of the National Coordinators of the Arab Network for Aquaculture on the 27th of January 2019 at the premises of AOAD in Khartoum, Sudan.

H.E Prof. El Dukheri pointed to the availability of adequate resources to promote the aquaculture sector in many Arab countries. He stressed that AOAD has prepared the Arab strategy for aquaculture, which was adopted by the Arab Summit in Amman, Jordan in March 2017. It is considered a guiding document and a guide for the development of aquaculture in the Arab region. He added that AOAD has established this network as a mechanism to communicate with the concerned ministries in the Arab region and experts and researchers in a number of issues related to aquaculture sector.

 The meeting aimed to identify the efforts of the Arab countries in developing the aquaculture sector and the technical, institutional, legislative, human and investment conditions of the sector and to observe carefully what has been done regarding the work of the strategic plan for the strategy to reach a unified method for inputting the database of the Arab Network for Aquaculture, through training the coordinators on how to input the web site with information and up to date data and agree on a unified mechanism for regular and two-way feeding work.
