The Arab Organization for Agricultural Development and the Arab Institute for Training and Research in Statistic in Jordan discussed ways of enhancing cooperation in agricultural statistics and food security


The Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) and the Arab Institute for Training and Research in Statistic (AITRS) participated in the workshop which was held on the sidelines of the meeting of trustees in its forty-fourth session held during the 3rd and the 5th of November 2019 in Amman, to discuss the Institute's Strategic Plan for 2020-2024 prepared by the institute with the participation of the heads of national statistical bodies in Jordan, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Syria, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Libya, Egypt and Yemen.

 During the workshop AOAD presented its vision on increasing coordination with the national statistical bodies and statistical units in the ministries of agriculture in the Arab countries through the implementation of the first phase of the Arab project for developing agricultural and fishery information and statistics systems for the period 2020-2022 to facilitate the flow of statistical data and achieve high accuracy.

AOAD delegation met the Director General of the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC) H.E Dr. Nabil Dabour,), who expressed his readiness to continue the cooperation between AITRS and AOAD during the coming period, through the implementation of joint activities in the field of agricultural statistics, food security and indicators of the Sustainable Development Goals 2030.
