His Excellency Prof Ibrahim Adam El Dukhiri the Director General of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD), arrived in Mauritania on the 11th of November 2017, in a four-day official visit to discuss the ways of enhancing cooperation between the AOAD and Mauritania. H.E Prof El Dukhiri will participate in the activities of the Livestock Investment Forum in Mauritania. The forum is organized jointly by the Mauritanian Ministry of Veterinary and the Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development on the 13th of November 2017. The Minister of Agriculture H.E Mrs Al Ameena bint AL Qutub weld Omam, received H.E Prof El Dukhiri at the airport.

H.E Prof El Dukhiri had a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture H.E Mrs Al Ameena bint AL Qutub weld Omam, at her office. The meeting was attended by the Ministry's Secretary General and the technical staff of the ministry.

H.E Mrs Al Ameena congratulated H.E Prof El Dukhiri on his election as the DG of AOAD. She discussed the means of cooperation between the two sides. She concentrated on Inbekt Al-Ahwash project , the demonstration forage farm with pivotaxial irrigation system, production on improved wheat and rice seeds, and floating pumps. Moreover, the organization held a symposium on Agricultural Investment in Mauritania, that brings together both the private and public sectors. As well as harmonizing the agricultural sector with the countries of the region, so that the results of this symposium won't be only recommendations, but lead to concrete specific actions.

 H.E Mrs Al Ameena also discussed the study that will be carried out by the AOAD in the coming months on the agricultural, pastoral, animal and fish resources in the five Sahel countries and came in selecting the experts who will carry out the work in order to achieve the desired results.

H.E Prof El Dukhiri expressed his happiness to visit his second country, Mauritania, explaining that he will never forget that Mauritania was the first country to support his candidacy for the leadership of the AOAD. He then reviewed the progress of the joint projects with Mauritania. Including those that have reached an advanced stage or the ones soon to be launched or are being prepared. He highlighted his readiness to add new topics such as those mentioned by the Minister.

Concluding his meeting, H.E said that he will submit to the General Assembly of the AOAD during its session next April proposals that activate the AOAD in areas such as the environment and economic integration. H.E Prof El Dukhiri also expressed his optimism regarding the coordination between the AOAD and its Member countries after the activation of the regional offices of the AOAD, especially the office of the Arab Maghreb in Algeria, which covers the Maghreb countries.
