The First Technical Meeting to Support the Somali Development Plan


A delegation from the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) led by the Director General H.E Prof. Ibrahim Adam El Dukhiri, participated in the First Technical Meeting to Support the Somali Development Plan. The meeting was held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States on Tuesday 18/12/2018 to discuss the priorities of the Somali National Development Plan and ways to support the efforts to exempt the external debt of Somalia. Moreover the meeting discussed the means of developing the Arab mechanisms to support the Somali development plan and manage the external debt.

 The meeting was addressed by the Assistant Secretary General of the League of Arab States, Head of the Arab Affairs and National Security Sector, H.E the Somali Minister of Finance Dr Abdulrahman Du'ali Beila, Assistant Secretary General, Head of the Economic Sector H.E Dr Kamal Hassan Ali, and technical interventions presented by senior officials and leaders of the joint Arab action.

H.E Prof. El Dukhiri, made a statement in which he stressed the great importance that AOAD supports the agriculture sector in Somalia, in particular the Somali National Development Plan and the institutional and human capacity-building.

It should be noted that this meeting was attended by several Arab organizations interested in supporting Somalia and enhancing the capacities of its productive and service sectors, including AOAD, the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD) and the Arab Water Council.
