Bilateral meeting between experts from the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development and the Arab Institute for Training and Research in Statistic (AITRS)

The Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) and the Arab Institute for Training and Statistical Research held a joint meeting on Sunday, 7 April 2019 which came on the sidelines of the regional workshop on the Practical Guidance for the Agricultural Census 2020. The bilateral meeting came within the framework of supporting the joint Arab cooperation, in the presence of representatives of the two sides where they discussed several topics, the most important of which is the unification of efforts in the field of raising capacities among workers in the Arab ministries of agriculture and statistical agencies.

The two sides also agreed on coordinating to review the Arabic translation of Volume II, the Practical Guidance for the Agricultural Census 2020 issued by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in addition to contributing to the Food Security Report issued by the organization.

On the other hand, the two sides agreed on the necessity of working hard in order to issue a systematic and institutional guide including the concepts and indicators related to agricultural statistics and to unite them among the Arab countries as a methodological tool for the benefit of the ministries of agriculture and statistical agencies to improve the quality of Arab statistical production in the agricultural field. The two sides also emphasized the need to exchange knowledge, plans and programs, and work to raise capacity building and train trainers.
